Some good news for once
The translation agency I am registered with has finally contacted for the first time in months. I had been wondering if perhaps they had forgotten about me. They brought good news of a big project starting from November involving a team of translators and they want me in on it as part of the team. This means lots of work to be done which should help offset my living costs from savings to actual income for the first time in a couple of months.
Then, there is the IT Consultant I met with a week or so ago who had me rewrite my resume to make it seem like I am still more current and up to date in the IT field and today I got an e-mail reponse stating that I have been submited for a Desktop Support role and to prepare for an interview. I am excited about this news, but also nervous about it since my IT skills with MicroSoft windows are about 5 years old. In IT that is like an eternity. Desktop Support is pretty straightforward entry-level IT type of work though and I think to get my foot in the door and get up to speed in the IT world and possibly move on to bigger and better things later this may be a good thing.
There is the issue that I have tickets to go to Tokyo next friday-sunday for my girlfriend's birthday she is going to be in Kyoto and Kobe for her Ikebana Exhibition and she is planning to fly back down to Okinawa from Tokyo and wanted me to come to visit her in Tokyo for that last weekend to celebrate her birthday by going to Disneyland/Disney Sea with her and I agreed and have already purchased ariline tickets to go there. Also, I had a phone interview with a university in Tokyo and they wanted me to visit their campus if I have the chance to visit Tokyo, so I have made arrangements to go and meet with them this coming friday. Now, if the IT interview ends up on this coming friday that is going to become very problematic and I am not sure if I should mention now that I will be unavailable next friday, or keep my mouth shut and hope it doesn't become a problem. Tough choice to make. The IT job is starting probably sooner than later, while the university job won't start until april. Still waiting to hear back on results of that interview at the end of october, but by that point I may have the IT job instead and have to turn down the university job.
It is good to finally feel like I might actually be employed in some way or another again soon, since I have not been for a couple of months now.
